Ecological Landscape Design & Native Plant Installation in Charlotte, NC

Creating Beautiful, Habitat-Rich Native Gardens that Work with Nature

  • Why Native Plants Are the Foundation of Every Garden We Design
We focus on native species because they offer the greatest benefits for local ecology — supporting pollinators, birds, and soil health, while also creating beauty that feels rooted in place.

  • Creating Beautiful Gardens That Also Support Wildlife
Our landscapes are designed for visual appeal and ecological value — with layered plantings that provide food, shelter, and seasonal interest for birds, bees, and butterflies.

  • Designing for Charlotte’s Soils, Weather, and Wildlife Pressure
We design specifically for the Piedmont — including heavy clay, summer heat, unpredictable rainfall, and yes, deer. Through careful plant selection and layout strategies, we reduce browsing impact while maintaining biodiversity and beauty.

  • Sustainable Landscapes That Improve Soil, Water, and Climate Resilience
Our gardens go beyond curb appeal — they retain water, improve soil life, reduce runoff, and sequester carbon, making your yard part of a healthier system.

  • A Long-Term Relationship with You and Your Garden
We offer guidance and seasonal support long after planting — helping your garden thrive and evolve, and making sure you feel confident every step of the way.

About

I’ve been an avid gardener for 15+ years, starting off growing vegetables in a Southern California backyard, before evolving to an interest in ornamentals after moving to Charlotte in 2013.  Gradually, I noticed that a lot of the standard gardening practices were creating needless work and expense as they were in opposition to how plants grow in nature (i.e. trying to grow a grass lawn under a tree canopy).  Furthermore, I noticed that a lot of our plant choices (i.e. Nandina, Privet) either provided little benefit to nature/wildlife or were downright harmful.  These led me to gradually adopt ecological gardening practices in my yard.  With Charlotte Ecological Gardening, I hope to use what I have learned to add a bit of beauty and nature to your yard.
